The media in 'N|JOY takes on a character of it's own. This experimental video is a compilation of what has brought pain and joy in this journey. The main thread is a sped of version of Molly's TMS Therapy Vlog. TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) therapy follows a seven week protocol to expedite neuroplasticity and wake up parts of the brain that have become dormant. Molly documented this journey daily over the seven week and the 20+ hours of documentation have been condensed for this iteration of 'N|JOY. Layered in with the vlog media are medical imaging results and nature scenes in Maine.
The sound score guides the show and is the heartbeat of the performance. The text in the sound score is inspired by weekly Waffle Wednesdays with a friend that documents the TMS treatments. Layered in with the text are clips from comedians' bits on "healthcare" in the US, hold music, the Barbie movie, medical equipment sounds, and Molly's TMS Therapy commuting playlist.
